What is FTP?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software transfers files between computers, usually in different parts of the world. These computers are usually laptops or desktop computers that upload web site files to a web server or computer used to store the files that make up a website. These files are stored until another computer requests them usually a home computer user wanting to view a web site. These web site files are typically viewed and downloaded with HTTP using program called a browser. Examples of browsers are Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Again FTP software is used to upload web site files to a web server where individual users can view them in their browser.
